In my last article, I shared why I took a break from social media and why I’ve chosen to return. I spoke about clarity, conviction, and the need to realign with a purpose that goes beyond professional success. This article is the next chapter in that journey. Because now it’s time to act.
The Real Mountain We Must Climb
In less than 6 weeks, I’ll be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro alongside four friends not for sport, but for mothers. We’re raising $29,475, one dollar for every meter of elevation, to fund the construction of a new maternity wing at Concession District Hospital in Zimbabwe. The mountain we’ll face is symbolic. The one women face every day while giving birth in under-resourced clinics? That’s the real one. Everyday women across Zimbabwe face an invisible mountain, a system not built to support them when they are most vulnerable: while giving birth. We often hear that childbirth is a miracle. But for far too many women in under-resourced communities, it’s also a risk. And in places like Concession District Hospital, the risk is growing.
This is why we’re climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. Not only for the adventure. But to raise $29,475 one dollar for every meter of elevation to build a new maternity wing and help bring dignity back to birth.
The Quiet Crisis in Maternal Health
Zimbabwe’s maternal mortality rate stands at 462 deaths per 100,000 live births (UNICEF, 2023). That means nearly one woman dies every day from complications during pregnancy or childbirth. In rural hospitals like Concession, the numbers aren’t just statistics they’re personal. Maternity wards are overcrowded. Beds are shared. Women are sometimes turned away or forced to give birth on the floor. These are not isolated incidents. They are the daily reality for many. And while frontline health workers do their best with what they have, the truth is simple: the infrastructure hasn’t kept up with the demand. Giving life should never mean risking your own.
Why Concession District Hospital?
Concession District Hospital is located in Mashonaland Central Province, serving a population of over 100,000 people across several rural clinics. It is the primary referral center for pregnant women in the region. Yet today, the hospital’s maternity ward is beyond capacity. During peak months, some women sleep in corridors or share labor beds. Privacy is limited. Safety is compromised. When you strengthen a critical node in a fragile system, you unlock better outcomes for thousands. Because it represents a bigger story that of countless hospitals across Zimbabwe facing similar conditions. And because rural women matter too.
What We’re Building
Through this campaign, we aim to raise $29,475 to support:
- Construction of an additional maternity wing, including delivery and recovery spaces
- Essential equipment and beds to reduce overcrowding
- Improved sanitation and privacy features for safer, more dignified care
- Support for frontline healthcare workers who urgently need space and resources to do their work
This project will be implemented by Grace Life Foundation the organization I founded to drive sustainable community transformation across Africa.
Why We’re Climbing Kilimanjaro
Because mountains are more than terrain they’re symbols. Mount Kilimanjaro stands 5,895 meters tall. Every step to the summit requires mental strength, endurance, and collective will. It’s exactly how it feels for many women in our healthcare system: an uphill battle just to give birth safely. Our climb is a metaphor. But it’s also an act of commitment. If we want to ask people to give, we must also be willing to give something of ourselves. That’s why I, along with four friends, will be summiting Kilimanjaro in August to rally support, raise awareness, and show what’s possible when people choose purpose over comfort.
What It Will Take
We’ve broken down the need into something symbolic:
5,895 meters = $29,475 = One new maternity wing
Whether you donate $10, $100, or $1,000, your contribution is a step toward safer births, better outcomes, and restored dignity.

The Real Summit
The real summit isn’t at the top of Kilimanjaro. It’s in the maternity ward we’ll build. It’s in the woman who doesn’t have to share a bed while in labor. It’s in the child born into safety, not scarcity. It’s in proving that when communities come together whether through climbs or contributions we can change lives.
